10 Unique Grilling Recipes
I don’t know about you, but once the warm weather hits in Canada, I want nothing to do with turning on my oven or even my stovetop if I can help it. There’s something so delicious about smokey grilled favorites like sausages, steaks, chops, and foil grilled potatoes. In fact, I come from a long line of grill obsessed humans and although this article is titled “10 unique Summer grilling recipes”, we actually grill all year long.

Although we love the usual grilling suspects, it’s also really fun to think outside the box and try some new unique grilling recipes. Most were new to us, and all were a hit!
Unique Gilling Recipes
Meat Based Dishes
Burgers may not be at the top of your list when you think of unique grilling recipes but this one had to be here. It’s called “The Purist” and it’s the yummiest burger we’ve ever had. There are two big Chef secrets to making an outstanding burger. Now, we’ll never go back to the “old way” again. Not to mention the 7 layer sweet potato salad as a side…yes, please!
Thai Grilled Chicken with Asian grilled broccoli and a healthy dose of local red wine. Chicken thighs are already a fan favorite here at our house but this marinade took it to the next level.
This Greek-inspired chicken and veggie skewer recipe paired with lemon potatoes and simple Tzatziki sauce were light, fresh and full of simple flavors. We love anything that you can make ahead and whip up quickly so this one fits the bill.
Pork tenderloin with salsa verde. The salsa verde was SO fresh and delicious. There’s something about fresh herbs and local flavors in the summer that really add a special quality to traditional grilled meals (like pork).
These garlicky grilled shrimp skewers were my only solo grilling attempt in this series and it was easy as pie. The skewers can be made ahead of time and are perfect for large gatherings. They’re quick to prepare, easy to eat and great as an appetizer or main course.
These crispy grilled chicken wings got more attention than any other recipe we’ve ever released. And, they’re the simplest thing on the blog to make. We used this rotisserie basket and a simple foil drip tray to make quick, easy wings that come out perfectly every time.
Mexican grilled pork was a perfect pair for the street corn (above). It also made use of some of our favorite flavors. Lime, cilantro and garlic are the stars of the show in this fresh, tasty dish. We also opted for Capicola steak from a local butcher which was to die for.
Grilled Vegetable Sides
Grilled Mexican street corn – an easy, authentic recipe that features corn grilled on direct heat and a spicy, feta sauce that has impressed many a guest in our house this summer. Fresh cilantro and lime make this a perfect side for darn near any dish.
Grilled Caesar salad with local bacon, fresh croutons, and home-made dressing. This light, refreshing meal that could easily be topped with chicken or shrimp. Grilled salads are easy to make and elevate any meal!
Breakfast on The Grill
This gluten free, grilled breakfast pizza was actually an impromptu creation on a camping trip. My mother and I are forever bringing too much food! Since we ran out of dinners to make, we made use of our pizza plan in the morning by adding some of our favorite breakfast foods. It turned out to be a winner.
