1-Day Relaxation and Wellness Itinerary in Truro
Grab a Coffee at Brew Beans
570 Prince Street
Brew Beans is the newest coffee house in Truro and features beautiful coffee and vegan bites! We stopped in and grabbed a coffee to go but they also have the cutest sit in are if that’s what you’re looking for. At the time of our visit, they also feature an entirely vegan menu made up of muffins, cupcakes, donuts and more.
Try Something New at Wink Day Spa
49 Inglis Place
When it comes to spa visits, I think we all get stuck in our patterns. Manis, pedis and massage are by far the most popular services but when is the last time you tried something new? I took the owner, Renee’s, suggestion and opted for my first ever reflexology appointment. While I had my doubts and no idea what to expect I LOVED the service! It was incredibly relaxing and the time flew by. The reflexologist worked on my feet for an entire hour and it felt like I was only there for minutes. I left feeling lighter, super calm and ready for my day.
If you haven’t tried reflexology before, I would highly recommend it. Personally, I can’t wait to go back for my next treatment.
Enjoy a Sushi Picnic in Civic Square
911 Prince Street (400m walk)
I’ll be the first to admit, we (as in Brent and I) have strange eating patterns. We’re an odd hybrid moving between grazing and intermittent fasting. It’s not deliberate, it’s just how many of our days unwind. During this visit to Truro, we knew we would be enjoying a big meal later in the day so we opted for a light fare at lunch.
We grabbed a Dragon Roll from Yoka (the only Sushi place in Truro currently) and headed to Civic square for a picnic. Civic Square is one of the highlights of Truro. The town has invested a lot of time and resources into this space and it’s truly special. Right in the center of town, Civic Square offers music (live or pre-recorded), benches, picnic tables, and even a piano you can play. It sits in front of the beautiful Colchester East Hants Library which has quickly become an iconic structure in Nova Scotia.
The square is filled with flours, lighting and in the winter it’s transformed into a public skating rink! If you’re visiting Truro there two things you cannot miss. Victoria Park and Civic Square. So make me a promise right now to put both of those on your list! Okay?
Have Dinner at The Blunt Bartender
563 Prince Street
Remember how I told you that I knew we’d be eating well at dinner? This is it! Our friend Dave a Marie opened the Blunt Bartender restaurant a couple of years ago and we’re so proud of how far they’ve come. We had the pleasure of sitting on their patio and enjoying some of their specialty cocktails and *too many of their menu items.
They’ve quickly become known for their dill pickle pizza, which is a must-try. I know it sounds weird but, trust me, it’s really good (if you like pickles). We also enjoyed the scallop linguini, chicken stir-fry, thai bites, the daily special and strawberry shortcake on buttermilk biscuits.
Oh, and did I mention the cocktails?
Grab a Nightcap at The Nook & Cranny
627 Prince Street
We finished the day by heading to our old stomping ground, The Nook & Cranny, to enjoy the evening on their newly expanded patio. Currently, this is the only place in Truro you can get oysters so naturally, that’s what I did. Another brag-worthy accolade for the Nook & Cranny is that they offer Nova Scotia wine flights!
As Nova Scotia wine ambassadors (yes, you heard that right) we were pretty excited to see some of our local favorites on the menu as a flight.
