Bent Ridge Winery
The wine scene in Nova Scotia is flourishing and there’s no shortage of lovely vineyards to visit but what we love about Bent Ridge Winery is that you immediately know it’s different. Bent Ridge has it’s own unique style, pulling from Italian influence and even a little Mexico inspired decor (found in the FABULOUS washrooms). It really does feel like you’ve just arrived at a vineyard in Tuscany when you pull in the driveway – until of course you turn around and see the ski hill directly in front of you.

About Bent Ridge Winery
Bent Ridge winery is located in Windsor, Nova Scotia directly across Ski Marktock in the Avon Valley which makes it PERFECT for the ski community. They’re open year round and just built a solarium on the front with a huge wood burning fire place where you can enjoy a meal or beverage while also enjoying the scenery… all without freezing your butt off in the colder months.
The vineyard grows exclusively Marquette grapes because they’re perfect for our cold climate and still able to ripen fully in the valley. The hardiness of the grape allows us to produce quality red’s – something that’s traditionally been tricky in this region. Bent Ridge was the first vineyard to grow Marquette grapes and remains the largest dedicated grower of Marquette grapes in Atlantic Canada.
Bent Ridge Bevies & Bites
Wine
Bent Ridge produces four distinct wines. Their Contorto Marquette (bold, full-bodies red), 1760 Reserve (full-bodied, dry red), Piegato Rose (dry, fruity & crisp Rose), and the Slightly Bent Blend (an off-dry white). Then we’ve got the very exciting (and very delicious) 1761 Reserve dessert wine. On personal note, I’m not typically a dessert wine fan but this was (to me anyway) much closer to a Port which I love! It was a thick and tart and would make a perfect finisher to decadent meal or a pairing with fine chocolate and cheese.
Beer
Bent Nail (read the story here – it’s cute) is considered a Pico Brewery (which just means it’s really small). That allows them to produce many different brews throughout the seasons so the tap is ever changing! You can enjoy a flight, a pint or take home a growler – whatever your fancy.
Wood Fired Pizza
Seriously, is there anything better than wood fired pizza paired with wine? The answer is NO! It’s one of our favourite combos and Bent Ridge has mastered the pizza game (which is trickier than you may think). Their Cucina menu boasts a good selection of unique pizzas (my current fav is the pear & blue cheese) as well as small shareable plates. Think charcuterie, cheese boards, and bruschetta – YASS!
