We’ve been frequent visitors to Digby Pines this year, and for good reason. This year-round resort seamlessly blends luxury amenities with the rustic charm of Digby. Whether lounging by the heated outdoor pool, exploring the on-site walking trails, or enjoying live music by the fire tables on the expansive patio, Digby Pines consistently offers an exceptional experience.

Checking In

The check-in process at Digby Pines is always smooth and welcoming. The attentive staff ensures a seamless arrival, often assisting with luggage upon request. Approaching the resort feels like driving up to a castle, with its impressive stone exterior and beautifully landscaped grounds leaving a pretty great first impression.

The Place: Rooms, Suites, and Cottages

We’ve been fortunate enough to have experienced various accommodations at Digby Pines, there’s truly something for everyone:

• Resort Rooms: Classic comfort with modern amenities, including air conditioning, coffee machines, and full baths.
• Suites: Offering extra space and luxury, the suites feature king-size beds and mini-fridges, perfect for those seeking added comfort.
• Cottages: Ideal for families or groups, these pet-friendly cottages come with spacious living rooms, wood-burning fireplaces, and private decks. While rustic, they provide a cozy retreat with beautiful views.

The resort’s expansive grounds include a playground, life-size chess, shuffleboard, and scenic walking trails, offering lots of opportunities for relaxation and recreation.

• Golf Course: An 18-hole championship course designed by Stanley Thompson, renowned for its challenging layout and stunning vistas. A shuttle service is available for the short trip to the course.

• Heated Outdoor Pool: Perfect for a refreshing swim, regardless of the season.

The Location

Situated in the quaint coastal town of Digby, the resort is approximately a 2.5-hour drive from Halifax. Digby offers a picturesque waterfront, ideal for leisurely walks and soaking in the maritime ambiance.

For adventure seekers, Digby Neck is about 30 minutes away, providing opportunities for whale watching tours to Brier Island. Additionally, Annapolis Royal, home to the Historic Gardens, is a short drive in the opposite direction. The serene setting and stunning views make Digby Pines a perfect base for exploring the region.

Dining at Digby Pines

Churchill’s Restaurant prides itself on locally sourced and Nova Scotia-inspired dining, including Prime Rib Fridays. The menu often features specials like prime rib nights, adding variety to the dining experience.

The Trophy Room at the golf course offers a more casual dining atmosphere, with options to dine inside or on the patio. The Trophy Club sandwich, accompanied by basil aioli, is a standout choice. Given Digby’s reputation for scallops, first-time visitors should definitely try the seared scallops for an authentic taste of the region.

Final Thoughts

While the cottages offer a charming rustic experience, those seeking more modern accommodations might prefer the suites.

How was the Wi-Fi?

Reliable and fast, suitable for both leisure browsing and remote work needs.

Did we feel welcomed?

Absolutely. The staff’s hospitality is exceptional, ensuring a warm and inviting stay.  I will also note, it’s one of those places where EVERY staff member is kind and very accommodating from the groundskeepers to the housekeepers, they’re all keen to make your stay wonderful and it shows.

The Location?

Peaceful, picturesque, and conveniently located near various attractions.

Cost?

Rooms start at $139 CAD per night, with various packages available to suit different preferences and budgets.

Would I recommend it to my best friend?

Without hesitation. In fact, we gifted a weekend package to my parents this year for Christmas!  Digby Pines offers a unique blend of relaxation and adventure, making it a must-visit destination.

• Bring Walking Shoes: The resort’s expansive grounds and nearby waterfront are perfect for exploring, so comfortable walking shoes are a must.
• Try the Scallops: Digby is world-famous for its scallops, and the resort’s seared scallops are a must-try for first-time visitors.
• Check for Seasonal Specials: Digby Pines offers a variety of packages throughout the year, such as the Romantic Getaway Package, the Rejuvenation Spa Package, and golf stay-and-play deals. These are excellent value and worth considering.
• Plan for Weather: While the resort is a year-round destination, bringing layers is always a good idea for cooler evenings, especially if you’re dining or relaxing outside by the fire tables.
• The resort is not accessible so those with mobility issues will find some challenges.
